Healthspan Metrics - Using Smartwatch Tracking for Medical and Insurance Evaluation

If one of your patients was to download exercise/performance metrics from a smart watch and bring it to your lab for a consultation, which data would you like to see in that report, and what duration would you like it to cover? With what seems to be irrefutable evidence that physical exercise directly improves and extends an individual’s healthspan, at what - in your opinion - will medical and life insurance companies start utilizing an individuals metrics in the underwriting processes? Are you aware of any steps the industry is taking towards reviewing, considering, and adopting new protocols and focusing more on healthspan metrics?

Zone 2

I understand zone 2 should be a dedicated session. However, do you have any guidance/ data/ personal experience regarding mid way through a zone 2 session you realize for the past 10 minutes you had been actually in a higher zone. At that point would you recommend switching to zone 5 workout to finish out the session or is there still a benefit to scaling back to zone 2 again?

Nicotine Carcinogenicity
