What would be your recommendation for muscle build + fat loss for someone with Hashimoto's - for diet + exercise program? I'm in osteopenia. I realize the importance of gaining muscle and losing fat stat - given my age + condition - I'm 62 yo female, 122 lbs - my dexascan 32.7% Fat 40 lbs, Lean 77 lbs. I eat fish + eggs / no other meats, pretty healthy-clean eating, but very confused on all the conflicting literature about what to eat / what not to eat with Hashimoto's .. and should my focus be on protein intake?
What is your threshold for starting statins? Would you consider using in a peri-menopausal woman with LDL 2.12mmol/L and ApoB 0.66 g/L and a strong family history of premature CAD (multiple deaths 40s-50s and mother with carotid endarterectomy 60s)? If well-tolerated, what is the downside of starting before entering what is traditionally thought of as moderate to high risk using Framingham?
When Peter has talked about his exercise routine, he usually does so in terms of what a weekly distribution of Strength, Zone 2, and Zone 5 training looks like. Is there reason to think that focusing on exercise at a longer timescale would be less beneficial (eg. concentrating more on Zone 2 in the spring and summer and Strength training in the fall and winter) ?
