What are the best books, papers, people studying ways to increase my mental sharpness? For instance, how much caffeine should one take each day and when to help in concentration? In my personal experience, sleep, caffeine and hydration are very important, but I would like to have more scientific knowledge to improve my choices. Where should I start? Thanks!

Help understanding stability

I find the stability leg of the table of exercise to be the most difficult to understand. I loved your interview with Beth Lewis but I would appreciate more information on stability. It would also be useful if you suggest how to find trainers knowledgeable in DNS. It is easy to find strength trainers or running coaches. Thank you very much for sharing your wisdom.

Centenarians

I'm confused by your recent note, "What can we learn about longevity from centenarians". In it, you state that based on observational study, their genes account for most of their remarkable longevity and we can therefore infer which strategies the rest of us can employ. I also read your post, "Is red meat killing us?" which states that observational epidemiology is a scientific weapon of mass destruction. Residents in blue zones live in very different parts of the world and have commonalities, including a relatively low consumption of meat. Why is it that we can infer a strategy based on genetic observational study of centenarians but we must so emphatically reject a strategy based on nutritional/behavioral observational study of centenarians? Is it possible that you were right when you wrote the post in 2012, "Oh, come on Peter, you’re just upset because this study says something completely opposite to what you want to hear."
