Follow up of “ Elevation masks and breathing training devices” question. Given recent article “ Time‐Efficient Inspiratory Muscle Strength Training Lowers Blood Pressure and Improves Endothelial Function, NO Bioavailability, and Oxidative Stress in Midlife/Older Adults With Above‐Normal Blood Pressure” (https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/JAHA.121.020980) do you have opinion on use of these devices for cardiovascular and/or general health?
Do you know of a method outside the lab for determining carb vs fat utilization during endurance training? Additionally, what are your thoughts on the validity of the data produced by the Lumen product featured here (https://www.lumen.me/)? It supposedly can determine fat vs carb metabolism through measuring CO2 concentration in the breath, but it's difficult to find research on it other than a study funded by the parent company (Metaflow Ltd.).
There seems to be interesting data both from Michael Ristow’s work in c elegans and mice showing prolonged lifespan from glucosamine. Interestingly, this is supported by the less powerful epidemiological data (your favorite) of the large number of older human adults taking glucosamine for joint pain but also having lowered mortality risk. What are your thoughts , Peter + Bob-a-tron?
Hi! I was wondering what were your thoughts on fasting before a PET scan to reduce effects of the radiation exposure? I also plan on fasting during my chemotherapy treatments (classic Hodgkin’s lymphoma), I reviewed all the studies with my wife and a few friends (all of which are MDs) and it seems like it would likely be a low risk/high reward situation, even though « more studies are needed ». Thank you !
