Could you invite Derek Lowe to the podcast?

Derek Lowe is a well known medical chemist and prolific scientific blogger (https://blogs.sciencemag.org/pipeline/). I think sitting down with him and having a discussion would be incredibly interesting. Hearing his perspective on why starting companies/clinical trials in humans for longevity indications is so difficult and why many of the drugs that we know already are likely to have lifespan enhancing effects are not already sitting in our medicine cabinets would be fascinating. There is probably much more you could talk about but that would be a good way to get the ball rolling...

Zone two training, “whole body” possibilities

I ref to zone two training, could you comment on “whole body” possibilities different than rowing, ie: calisthenics, kettlebell, skipping rope…

Heart rate as proxies for zone 2

From AMA #26, could you please elaborate on (1) True maximum heart rate: how to measure it. How “accurate” this would be and how to improve measurements. (2) RPE, relative perceived exertion using heart rate. Would you prefer the 180 minus your age versus 220 minus your age for HIIT, calisthenics, skipping rope and other exercises different than cycling, running… why. Thanks!!!

Training type seasons, combinations and challenges aimed at LONGEVITY:

Balancing seasons between (i) running/cycling/rowing, (ii) calisthenics/HIIT/ kettlebell and (iii) weight training

How does fiber "cancel" carbs?

Conventional wisdom when reading nutrition labels says that you can subtract # of grams of fiber from the grams of carbs to get the "real" carb impact per serving. That's the basis for the entire "low-carb" or "keto-friendly" marketing craze in the food industry, and something everyone considers on a ketogenic or low carb diet. Could you discuss how this mechanism works, kind of a deep dive from a bio-chemical and metabolism standpoint, and if the simplified assumption is actually valid? - Is it as simple as that? - What is fiber, actually, and how does it behave in the body? - Are there better/worse types of fiber, do they all behave the same, etc.
