When the Numbers Don't Seem to Compute (or maybe they do)

Is there a "ceiling" for favorable HDL? I understand that an NMR profile would reveal more, but I recently had a conventional profile workup through LabCorp (I've had many of these done over the years) and my HDL was very high at 147 mg/dL (usually around 100), and my TGs very low at 41 mg/dL (lately in the 60s-80s). Further, my AST was higher than ever recorded at 63, and ALT at 44. A few background facts: I'm a 53 year old male, an endurance runner (and have been for ten years), and have regularly been running 30+ miles per week (most runs 13 miles). I do brief body weight workouts every morning. I am a small guy at 5'8" and 130 lbs. I consume a lot of protein (200 g/day), lower carbs (40-50g/day), and moderate fat (120-160g/day). I am taking 1-3 capsules of Carlson Maximum Omegas per day to mitigate normally high TG levels. I am a "moderate" drinker, consuming 1-2 drinks every evening. Is it reasonable to assume that with all these mixed input variables that it could be difficult to tease out at least a clearer picture without imaging of organs like the liver, kidneys, and pancreas (and so on)? I understand that you cannot in such a context offer medical diagnosis or advice, but I respect you and your team's opinion greatly and frankly don't trust my local offerings. I don't have a GP at the moment as I'd given up years ago finding one in my area who doesn't advocate a SAD diet and who cannot afford more than a 12 minute timeframe to meet my health needs. Having said all that, I appreciate greatly your time and any general insights you might over. Best regards to you and your team.

Restoring the microbiome after antibiotics

I listened to Episode #91 with Eric Topol. Ability to manipulate the gut microbiome and it's implications was discussed during that episode. I work in a hospital, where the use of IV antibiotics are commonplace. I am wondering if there are any evidence-based protocols for restoring the gut microbiome that could be prescribed following a course of, presumably needed, antibiotics? Thanks!

nicotine uses which substrate, is supplementation of a substrate a good idea?

to avoid depression after, for example if too much substrate used up for say serotonin's natural production, should some form of choline be used at the same time, like Alpha GPC? thank you, love your work !

Urolithin A induced mitophagy for anti-aging

What are your thoughts on Urolithin A, the metabolite found from ellagitannins such as pomegranates? It's been shown to induce mitophagy, extending rodents' lifespan by 40%. It also turns on anti-aging gene expression and improves leg strength in adults.
