I've just visited a functional medicine clinic - I have very high insulin levels, and they are recommending a raft of supplements including supplements to boost/support mitochondria. How real is this stuff? Their total prescriptions will be well beyond $1000 monthly for various supplements. How do I get insulin down beyond exercise and low carb diet? Peter has mentioned repeatedly that rosuvastatin is his preferred statin. Why is that? I'm wondering if I should change to that from atorvastatin. Is there any difference in dosage one takes between the two? My ALT and AST were "through the roof" previously on 40 mg atorvastatin and are 26 and 29 now that I'm on 20 mg statin (Peter prefers ALT and AST below 20). But my lipid numbers are higher than Peter's optimal -- non-HDL cholesterol 117, LDL 109. Coronary calcium score zero, other biomarkers in optimal ranges.
