As a young (52 yr-old) prostate cancer patient, I was very much looking forward to your discussion of prostate cancer with Dr. Schaeffer. While in many ways it did not disappoint, and confirmed the trust I placed in my urologist in terms of the diagnostic process and the like, it did seem to be a bit narrowly focused on prostatectomy. There was some discussion of radiation, but my question is about other treatments, specifically HIFU, which I understand are being used on other countries and/or to treat other cancers. From my perspective, it would seem to sit somewhere between active surveillance and other more invasive treatments and could be appropriate for a single core Gleason 3+4 cancer, as mine was, with a mere 5% Gleason 4. Would appreciate some time on this in a future AMA in terms of efficacy as well as an exploration of any other alternative treatments on the horizon.
Hi Dr. Attia, How should someone reconcile your recommendations of having a large amount of protein daily and strength training when people living in Blue Zones are the world's oldest people with long healthspans and have diets that are mostly plant based with minimal/low amounts of protein and minimal/no strength training? Thank you so much!
HDL-C = 115, TRIGS = 37 Please help me understand, Dr. Peter Attia, what the implications are of these numbers.
