It's looking like I may be headed in for shoulder surgery in the next month or two (labrum repair). Is there benefit to prolonged fasting (72+ hours) while recovering post Op ? I assume you want nutrients coming in for recovery, but fasting pathways such as autophagy and reduced inflammation seem like they would be beneficial. I would love to hear your thoughts on the topic.
On one of the podcast you say that the first thing to check when you have high blood pressure is kidney function and that eGFR lab test should be greater than 90. I have high blood pressure, and my eGFR came back at 70. Where would you start to get that marker from 70 to over 90?
I’m a 49 year old male and I’ve had 3 surgeries this year (Liver donation, rotator cuff repair, diaphragmatic hernia). I’ve been cleared for exercise but have lost so much of my progress that I’m pondering what should be my vision going forward. What exercise protocol would you recommend for a middle aged man going to the next chapter (Former marathoner, triathlete, CrossFitter (Hence the shoulder repair))? Thanks!
