Blood sugar regulation

In the podcast, with Robert Sapolsky, about stress, there was a reference about Peter's BG being 110 in a particular morning. Can you unpack this further? Many people see their BG on some days being the highest in the morning, whereas on other days their BG raises as they go deeper in their fasting window. I see my BG vary from 78 - 100 on any given day. - How does BG change in healthy people based on stress or other parameters? - What are the practises that we can follow to achieve the best BG throughout the day? - What are the acute actions depending on the BG readings at a particular point in time? (eat / fast / run / meditate etc) - What are the best metrics to get the overall picture of the glucose metabolism (HbA1c, cortisol)?

Sodium in endurance performance drinks

If I understand correctly Increased sodium consumption is discouraged for longevity, however for amateur or professional athletes there has been a increase in dialogue about consuming large amounts of sodium on a daily basis to enhance performance and recovery. How does athletic consumption of sodium compare to normal consumption and is there a line not to cross or anything to be concerned about?

Food/Sugar Addiction as Parasuicide

Hi Peter, You've mention that addictions to/use of substances such as alcohol and drugs can be a form of parasuicide, but I have never heard you or anyone mention food/sugar addiction in this same conversation, and I'm curious your thoughts. I know several people who are very, very sick and diagnosed with metabolic and cardiovascular issues and who are completely unable to give up sugar or abuse of food, even though they've been warned by their doctors that they could die. They each have a history of childhood trauma.
