Exercise or Sleep When There's Not Enough Time

As a surgery resident with limited (no) extra capacity in my schedule (as you well know), I often purse exercise at the expense of that equivalent amount of sleep. To me, the binary value of exercise vs no exercise outweighs for example 5 vs 6 hours of sleep. What are your thoughts in general about high yield interventions a resident can do to limit the negative impact of our lifestyles during training and on the trade off of sleep for exercise

Information retention and strategies for organizing clinical knowledge in practice

How do you and others in your practice 'compile/organize' your clinical knowledge. For example, as a surgery resident, I keep an active onenote (digital notebook) of 1) clinical knowledge 2) operative knowledge etc. I find I only retain information well when I have organized it into these notebooks that i maintain. However, despite this, I often find that I know I have the information available to me in my notebooks but struggle with long term retention of the detail of the knowledge I desire to retain to engage in meaningful conversations regarding those topics. With such a breadth of practice involved in the field of longevity, how do you organize this clinical knowledge, papers, etc that you implement in your practice with patients? What strategies do you have for optimizing your ability to stay on top of and retain up-to-date information for all these clinical areas?

Explore possible link of Alzheimers to fructose?

Rick Johnson, previous guest, has a new paper out speculating on a link between fructose and Alzheimers that would be interesting to explore. More generally, I'm interested in what are the suggested lifestyle mitigations of Alzheimers risk (mentioned in the episode with Chris Helmsworth). https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0002916523000047?via%3Dihub

Rapamycin

Good afternoon :-) I’m 58 years old in good health and I would like to consider adding Rapamycin to my longevity plan. I currently take a small dose of Jardiance and Acarbose. Could adding Rapamycin have an additive affect along with the current medication‘s I take. Any information you can share with me on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Reversal of Biological Age with Methylation Supportive Diet

Hi there, big fan and supporter of what you do. As a plant based guy, I hear a LOT of claims about plant foods supporting health, which generally you dispute as uncertain, for the most part. And obviously much of a data is conflicting and murky. This newly published article in Aging (https://www.aging-us.com/article/204602/text), seems to propose that those who eat “methylation supporting diets” have lower biological ages. What are your thoughts on this and other scientific claims about diet based interventions (i.e. WHO classification of red meat as carcinogenic, etc)?
