Hello Dr. Attia, Quick background, I am a very active 27 year old who loves weight training, being active through multiple sports and over the past year or so I have begun to take my health very seriously. However, I was recently diagnosed with an inguinal hernia on my right side and this has set me back quite a bit both physically and mentally. I am getting the mesh repair done soon but apparently I also have a weakness on my left side that has not formed into a hernia yet. Do you have any tips, for post surgery, on how I can prevent my left side from forming a hernia as well? I am not finding a lot of solid information out there on this. Am I able to implement a training protocol that will help prevent the hernia from forming in the future or is it just a ticking time bomb moving forward? Thanks in advance!
Last December I started wearing an Oura Ring so I would have quantitative data to show me which supplements actually worked. Or to objectively show me what sleep meds were doing to my sleep architecture. I built a spreadsheet and stared charting all the metrics each morning I have been on and off doxepin since 2016 and very much want to drop kick it. Thus, one of the first tests was to compare my sleep metrics while taking doxepin and while not. I was taking the med when I started then in the middle of January I stopped. Much to my surprise, when I stopped Doxepin my RHR lowered and my HRV improved by over 100%. Then, unfortunately, in late February I had a particularly bad night so started doxepin again the next day. Sure enough my RHR is trending upward and my HRV is trending downward. This is not a question but just a comment about my experience.
