Cortisol spikes during extended fasts
Hi there, I've noticed that in days 3, 4, and 5 of extended fast periods, my heart rate will spike dramatically in the morning. My heart rate generally normalizes by late morning into mid-day. I've speculated that this is due to cortisol spiking, but don't know for sure. That said, what are your thoughts here? Is this unexpected? Is there anything you'd recommend to help mute this effect?
