Tests (blood and otherwise) for insomnia

Hello! I just read on the socials, you plan on doing an AMA on sleep. I have a very self serving question… what tests (genetic, hormone, etc…) should I ask my doctor to order to determine the cause of my insomnia, and subsequent treatment?? I’m sure this question will appeal to the masses, however a bit more about me… I’m 45, in great shape, eat very well, weight train and do some zone 2 (probably closer to zone 3.25…) stuff. I just scheduled an at home sleep study and have been battling worsening insomnia for many years. I’m a firefighter, so my sleep schedule is wrecked. I take an entire rucksack full of vitamins and supplements for sleep (even occasional Phenibut…) Please help!! Thanks for taking the time!

Connection between ApoE4 and atherosclerosis

In your experience or research, does there seem to be a correlation in carrying at least one ApoE4 allele and atherosclerosis? Or at least with high ApoB and/or LPa.

Injury effect on longevity

I have an incomplete C4/C5 injury suffered during a road bike ride when I was 64. After surgery and 5 weeks rehab at the Shepard Center I was able to walk with elbow crutches. I have more ill effects on my left side than my right but I have issues every where from the shoulders down. I am now 67 and have been able through exercise to get some strength back and I ride my bike indoors using a wahoo trainer and Zwift. I ride on Zwift 24 hours each month and strength train using Tonal 4 and 1/2 hours per week. I have not been able to regain upper body strength very much. I would guess around 50%. It has been better on the bike where I would say my watt output is about 75% of my pre injury capability. Will I get the same benefit from exercise that someone without an injury achieves.

Insulin Sensitivity in Patients With Atopic Dermatitis

Is there an association between individuals who are insulin resistant and those who have atopic dermatitis or other conditions that are associated with inflammation?

Effect of different SFAs on health

Hi Peter, I'm becoming sick of hearing talk about SFAs as of they were all the same as it's seems to be clearer and clearer that each different one (butyric, lauric, myristic, palmitic, stearic, etc) has its own specific effect on our health (via stimulation of cholesterol production or not, interaction with bile and therefore influence on but microbiota, etc). Can you discuss what we know about each? Thank you
