Questioning whether to take a statin

I am a 66 year old woman who does strength training twice a week, tennis once a week, 3 hard cardios and hiking once a week in CA. My stats are such: 5'7", 137 lbs, BMI 21%, LDLc hovers between 130-156, my dexa on 10/25 showed 38.7% body fat, and my CT CAC score was 64.58, all in left anterior descending. After listening to the podcast on protein, I have increased my numbers to 98g/day for the 1.6g/kg. My exercise regime has picked up a bit since seeing those staggering body fat numbers. I'm vascillating on taking a statin and due for another yearly in January.

Starting from under muscled and over nourished

Peter, since admittedly this is the most difficult scenario and probably where most of the US public resides, what is the starting from zero protocol. I listened to Rich Roll podcast and you briefly mentioned this scenario and your first prescription would be walking. Could you please elaborate for what I think is the vast majority of your audience. Do I lose my 50lbs through calorie restriction and walking before I add strength training? There must be a super simple initial protocol and then a very recognizable end point to that initial phase when you can move on to other more demanding protocols. My experience, as I’m sure many others, will go from zero to 100 get injured, burn out and give up for a period of time until once again they rinse and repeat. Please help! What strategies can be utilized to sustain/improve soft joint tissues into old age? And what are the best ways to prepare/respond to issues like tendonitis or arthritis?

Lipids

If a low carb diet is generally good- yet can raise LDL numbers significantly- is that a concern? Can my LDL be in that neighborhood of 250mg/dl and still be able to have a low apoB? If my LDL is that high but I am pattern A- is that generally ok?

Given that men who exercise are 3-9 times more likely to develop Afib, and there seems to be a linear increase in afib with iincreased intensity, what recommendations do ypu have for continuing exercise (volume and intensity) post-afib or post-afib treatment (antiarrhythmia medications or ablation).
