To Fast or Not to Fast....

On AMA #227 you were pointedly reserved about fasting and TRF. You have an app, Zero, specifically designed to provide its users with a disciplined process for short to medium range fasts that you of which you now seem to find little or no value. I have seriously fasted (16/8) for the past nine months. For a year and a half prior to that, I was fasting as a consequence of involuntary metabolic changes due to cycling and life circumstance (a ver brief but usefully accurate rendition of events). Your AMA #227 turned my protocols on their head (protein 1.6 grams per pound of body weight (I am 190 down from 220 and age 80) consuming 50 grams in the morning, etc.). If my characterization is correct, why do you support Zero. If I am incorrect, what am I missing?

Deep dive into effects of wildfire smoke and air pollution on the human body and lifespan and healthspan?

In the Pacific Northwest we are once again in hazy, polluted air due to wildfire smoke. I know PM2.5 is extremely dangerous to cardiac systems and can increase risk of dementia. Fire seasons aren't going to get any shorter with climate change. What are you seeing in your patients experiencing these extremely high levels of pollution, and, other than 'move away', what are you telling your patients living in fire zones to manage risk this poses? What would 2-3 weeks per year of this level of pollution do to my children's bodies and lifetime risk of cardiac events with the other 49-50 weeks with excellent air quality?

Longevity

Hi, thanks for the great podcast, very very informative; You have made it clear that CR has been shown to improve longevity, one extreme of CR is anorexia nervosa, have you looked at this? Another question (being a pediatric allergist) we have been learning every time more and more about the microbiome in health and disease, I have not heard you discuss or mention anything on the potential role of the microbiome in longevity, any data? Thoughts?? Thanks!!

Grapefruit and Rapamycin

I came across some info that described the effect of grapefruit juice on the absorbtion and resulting serum levels of rapamycin. Is this a potential way to use less Rapa to get effective dose...economically? Otherwise, is Rapa best taken with or without food? Fatty food for absorbtion?
