5a-Reductase inhibitors

Hi Peter, What is your opinion on the use of 5ARIs for hair loss in men? I’m 28 years old and shave my head. I’m satisfied with my appearance, but in a perfect world would prefer more hair. I am concerned about using a medication solely for cosmetic reasons, and, given my age, presumably using it for 40+ years. I’m primarily concerned with how 5a-reductase inhibition would affect mood and sexual function. Trying to determine whether the risk is worth the reward.

Osteoporosis and Supplements

What supplements do you recommend if a DEXA scan shows osteoporosis? Is there a difference in the types of calcium? What about Vitamin K2? Strontium?

How to eat to gain muscles and lose fat at the same time?

I’m a novice powerlifter. No longer a beginner. My goal is to be stronger but I read that I also need to cycle through strength, hypertrophy and peak phases. I also read that I need to over feed in the hypertrophy phase to increase both lean body mass and fat, and I can lose fat later. My question is whether I can train and eat without the bulking and slimming phases. Is there a way to eat to lose fat and gain muscle mass at the same time?

Reversing Hyperinsulenemia

How can one reverse hyperinsulenemia and also train for strength and hypertrophy? I am lean and excercise almost everyday. Therefore I find it very hard to eat keto because I just don't get enough calories in. I'm trying low carb which works great except for when I train for hypertrophy, I which case the low carb high fat is not satiating enough which leads me to eat more which often triggers hyperinsulenemia resulting in hypoglycemia and fatigue & poor sleep. The hyperinsulenemia often retreats (temporarely) with IF/ketogenic diet but in the process I have to reduce my excercise output and calorie intake and I lose a lot of muscle. Is there anyway around this horrible tradeoff?

Adding Z2 before HIIT

Peter, I've been following a HIIT training plan from Trainer Road. After listening to your discussions on Z-2 training, I've added a long stretch of Z2 before the HIIT interval portion. Most of the planned HITT sessions are 60-75 minutes. I am modifying the workouts by adding 30-45 minutes of steady Z-2 before the intervals get hairy. Is this approach providing the best of both worlds (Z2 and HITT) or just risking overtraining, injury, and burnout? Should I adjust the HITT portion from 5-6 intervals to 1-2 or 3 to reduce the time on the bike and TSS? Thanks
