Cold sores / Alzheimers

I recently heard on one of your podcasts that your mouth gets sores after some low dose cycles of rapamycin. I’ll wondered if these sores were cold sores and if so, what you thought about research into how cold sores may be linked to Alzheimer’s. See once such article below. https://health.howstuffworks.com/skin-care/lip-care/health/cold-sore-alzheimers.htm Any insights you could share on this possible connection - and if this may alter your intake of rapamycin, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again — and keep up the great work!

Lactate levels during water only fasting

Hello Peter and members. Does anyone know a study that measures the lactate levels during fasting? I am doing a test myself. I am on the 6th day, I did run 4 days 7km 5min:km and HR of 120bpm, and cycle twice 1h zone 2. + some strength exercises. Today I am very tired and my rest lactate is 2.4mmol/L. Thank you very much

Fasting vs eating duration

I know that generally we describe intermittent fasting in terms of a 24 hour cycle such as 16:8; 18:6; 20:4 and tend to judge the power of the fast based on the top number (how long we go without food) but I’m wondering if it is only the length of the fast that matters, or perhaps the bottom number, the length of our eating windows that is also significant. Meaning to say, is there a difference in the efficacy of someone who fasts 22:2 day after day vs a person who fasts for 22 hours but then eats for six or eight hours and then does another 22 hours fast, day after day? Assuming that the food (macros and calories) remain constant for both individuals, their fasting window’s the same, only difference being the feeding window, theoretically, would the person with a shorter feeding window be more successful in terms of health, insulin sensitivity and fat loss? [note I do not manage to catch every AMA so if you answer this, please email me a heads up with a link so I can listen to the answer] Much appreciated

ketogenic diet and managing apoB levels

Would you be able to do an AMA episode on ketogenic diets and managing LDL / ApoB levels? I've been on a keto diet for the past 5 years and noticed a big spike in my LDL levels. I've replaced coconut oil with avocado oil and will reassess in a few months. I'm unclear on how to reconcile keto diets (i.e. high fat intake) with the desired goal of lowering ApoB levels

What I Actually Eat? (Circa 2022)

Would be keen to get an updated version of what a week looks like for you. Particularly as you stated saturated fat drives ApoB on a recent Huberman episode yet you were a proponent of huge amounts during your keto days, clearly your thinking has shifted and I would be grateful if you share the insights that led to the change.
