HRT

While I've heard the discussion around HRT and perimenopause and menopause, I have not heard what the data suggests as far as how long a woman should stay on HRT. Should they stay on Estrogen/progesterone for the rest of their life? Or just through the transition years? Testosterone? What if they have a DEXA that shows bone mineral loss? Is strength training just as effective (or more effective) at maintaining bone mineral density? Also, it seems that Functional doctors like to prescribe HRT's dosage based on labs - increasing amounts as needed (although I am not sure what their "target" is). Is this the best approach? And last, I've heard it argued that oral estrogen/progesterone is better absorbed than transdermal, but then there are greater potential side effects. Which do you consider better and why?

“Burn”

Thoughts on Herman Pontzer’s book, “Burn.” A study of metabolism in mammals, primates and humans, both hunter gatherer and modern? Seems to be right up Peter’s “alley.”

Metrics Chart

Hi! Is there a healthspan/lifespan metrics chart we could access and which can be of course personalized based on an assessment? (I.e finding out vo2max not only age based, less general metrics ref deadhang time, etc). The idea is to have a personalized plan addressing aerobic, strength etc based on marginal decade targets for non US rezidents accessible online. Thank you!

HRT reversed my Pre-Diabetes! What is suggested dosage of Progesterone?

I started an estradiol patch with progesterone 5 weeks ago. I am 8 years post menopause, had been struggling with insulin resistance and other post menopause symptoms, and also had recently been diagnosed with osteopenia. It took quite a bit of effort, but I finally got my primary Dr to prescribe HRT. I saw an immediate improvement in some symptoms but after the first week was feeling very PMS and physically uncomfortable, so I cut the patch in half and went with that for the next four weeks. This amount of estradiol/progesterone is very comfortable for me, and I still notice an improvement in symptoms. I'm not sure if it is enough to help with bone density, but the kicker was this past week a put another continuous glucose monitor on (after not using one for over a month) , and my insulin resistance is totally gone! I'm beyond thrilled!!! My questions are: 1) I understand without progesterone the uterine lining will thicken when given estradiol and possibly become pre-cancerous. Is it the ratio of estradiol/progesteron that matters, or the amount of progesterone? I have been cutting patch in half and applying that each week. Thank-you

Is it too late to start training in one's 30s, 40s, 50s or 60s for centenarian decathlon?

For someone who's generally healthy, but has never seriously prioritized fitness - let's say his/her metrics (VO2max, bone density, biomarkers, etc) are average in the same age cohort, is it too late to start training for centenarian decathlon? Any advice to customize the goals and training plans based on age, or gender or other aspects?
