Comment regarding Podcast #219 on DBT

Dr. Attia, I was listening to the most recent podcast #219 ‒ on DBT and it resonated with me in a very particular way. I am studying to be a life coach and the personal revelations the you shared about emotional dysregulation made me think that two books that I recently read that I feel would be very good for you to explore and potentially provide future podcast guests. The first is "Positive Intelligence" by Shirzad Chamine. His website is https://www.positiveintelligence.com/. There are two lectures on his resources page that are quite enlightening. The other is "Stress Less, Accomplish More Meditation for Extraordinary Performance" by Emily Fletcher. Dr. Mark Hyman wrote on the back cover of her book. "Emily Fletcher is my meditation teacher and to say I was shocked by what her style of mediation did for me is an understatement. After two months, I felt happier, calmer, and less anxious. I have so much more energy. For the few minutes I put into meditation each day, I get three hours of quality work. The benefits bleed into everything I do." The book also contains the following quote for Dr. Andrew Huberman. "Emily is a deep scholar of meditation. Despite that, she makes learning it incredibly playful, fun, and entertaining. Stress Less, Accomplish More is anything but boring, and it very well may change your life" Combined, these two work have given me great insight into the nature of negative emotions and provided the mechanisms to minimize their impact on my life.

Hair loss supplements & prescription medications

Hello, I was recently told by my hair dresser that I am starting to thin (35 yrs old), so I started looking into hair loss and how I could slow or stop it. I also spoke to my GP who suggested taking dutasteride + minoxil. However the side effects of dutasteride (& fluoxetine) scare me a bit especially if I am committing to taking this long term. My questions are: 1. Are the side effects of dutasteride over stated (such as libido, prostate cancer etc)? 2. What actually causes typical hair loss/thinning as we age, I understand dutasteride blocks DHT production but is excessive amounts of DHT actually what causes hair loss? 3. Are there any other routes that can be taken instead of dutasteride + minoxil? Thanks

Adjustments as we age

Hi Peter I’m a retired physician and now 67 years old, in good health with genetics on my side for longevity. What adjustments to diet, exercise, etc does the data recommend as we adjust to our aging

Flexibility and Longevity

Dr Attia, I haven’t really heard you discuss flexibility all that much in relationship to Longevity. As you say with muscle mass and strength, I doubt there are any 90 year olds that would say they wish they had less flexibility. Can u discuss flexibility, where you see it’s importance, how to train for it, etc?

Full Body MRI

I am considering a full body MRI as a preventative cancer screen. Looks like the two main companies in the US are Ezra & Prenuvo. An overview / comparison of each as well as any other complimentary diagnostics that you would consider, such as Galleri
