The end of craving and the role of vitamins in obesity.

Have you read Mark Schatzker’s “The end of craving”. Do you have an opinion about his thesis on the influence of vitamins in obesity?

Gut health | Importance and measurement

Peter talked to Rhonda Patrick about ~4 years ago and mentioned that he was going to be a late adopter on the gut health trend. I wanted to ask if Peter's opinion on gut heath has changed since then. Primarily, I'm interested in the following: - Are these any leading indicators we have for gut health that can give us some insight into whether we need to be making changes in our diet or other factors? I know there are stool tests available now, but I've read that the results are quite crude and only helpful if you have a severe problem. Like VO2 max is a proxy for cardiovascular health, what is a good, measurable proxy for gut health? Any information on this would be greatly appreciated - since there are many credible sources now saying "all disease starts in the gut"

Cultured Oil

Have you seen Zero Acre’s Cultured Oil? https://www.zeroacre.com/page/zero-acre-cultured-oil I was curious what you think of the fermentation process used to create this oil, and the fatty acid profile. Basically, is this a healthy option or just another franken-food that is best to avoid?

lowering apoB in a 36yo male?

Hi there - I'm a 36 year old male, quite healthy/active, been measuring my blood via WellnessFX since 2013. My apoB has bounced around between 65 and 91 and is now at 82. Should I be taking statins? How to I convince my current PCP that this is prudent? Thanks!

Could leptin be involved in modulating hypo/hyper-sensitivities in sensory processing in autism?

I may very well have no clue what I'm talking about, but I have been trying to find an appropriate place to pose this as a question since it touches so many different disciplines. As a day one listener and long time follower, I feel like Dr. Attia and the research staff can easily shoot this down if it's stupid - or have the resources available to pursue it if there's something there. I definitely am not suggesting a cause - but I'm curious if my thoughts below may enlighten any aspect of the origins and wide gulfs between people in the autism spectrum. One of the defining aspects of autism is altered sensory processing in the form of both hypo- and hypersensitivities. Multiple studies in children and infants with autism have indicated higher serum levels of leptin which seems to act as signalling mechanism for increased ATP consumption leading to greater sensory processing capacity. Are these related by cause and effect in any way? Could the seeming preference for a continuous neuronal spike rate and this difference in plasma leptin in children with ASD correlate in any way with the increased seizure/epilepsy comorbidity in ASD or the autonomic events of meltdown, shutdown, and burnout? (Something analogous to "flooding the engine" but given the structure and distribution of the brain, maybe the combustion ratio is not heterogenous so some people end up with a surplus of visual or auditory information, others with a deficit in motor control or olfactory senses, and some have a fold or too few folds causing the unmitigated increased electrical activity from a particular sense to trigger seizure) [The Brain Has a 'Low Power Mode' That Blunts Our Senses](https://www.quantamagazine.org/the-brain-has-a-low-power-mode-that-blunts-our-senses-20220614/) [Neocortex saves energy by reducing coding precision during food scarcity](https://www.cell.com/neuron/fulltext/S0896-6273(21)00839-4) https://doi.org/10.1016/j.neuron.2021.10.024 [Investigation of Serum Levels of Leptin, Ghrelin and Growth Hormone in Bahraini Children with Autism](https://clinmedjournals.org/articles/iatm/international-archives-of-translational-medicine-iatm-5-007.php) https://doi.org/10.23937/2572-4142.1510007 [Fetal and Infancy Growth Pattern, Cord and Early Childhood Plasma Leptin, and Development of Autism Spectrum Disorder in the Boston Birth Cohort](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30248249/) https://doi.org/10.23937/2572-4142.1510007 [Brief report: plasma leptin levels are elevated in autism: association with early onset phenotype?](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17347881/) https://doi.org/10.1007/s10803-006-0353-1
