I just listened to AMA 31. One question I still have: As it relates to longevity, does it matter whether you consume your drinks per week all in one or two days vs spreading them out evenly through the week? For example: Does drinking one glass of wine 7 days per week impact your longevity differently than having 3.5 glasses only in Fridays and Saturdays?
New member here, mid-20's and I honestly feel a bit intimidated by all the various tests and metrics being discussed on the podcast at times. I would love a comprehensive compendium of all the important/mandatory tests one should be scheduling in your life and how often (blood work, DEXA scan metrics, all the different cancer scans etc). This would allow me to get on top of my life, get a bird's eye perspective of where I personally stand health-wise considering everything, and follow along to live a better life, but right now I almost feel dazed at the prospect of trying to find out all this information myself and trying to figure out what is important to do and what is not.
The recent podcasts talk about increasing protein consumption and increasing lean body mass. What do you think of this small study showing that casein protein resulted in greater lean mass gains than whey protein? Effect of a hypocaloric diet, increased protein intake and resistance training on lean mass gains and fat mass loss in overweight police officers https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10838463/ Also, if casein is better for increasing lean body mass, are there increased cancer risks as mentioned in this study? A milk protein, casein, as a proliferation promoting factor in prostate cancer cells https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25237656/ Thanks!
I have recently started doing WB-EMS training in order to build some more muscles and strength. I am a 69 year old woman and have decent strenght for my age I think, but definitely want to become stronger, primarily legs. They claim 20 minutes a week is equivalent with three sessions in the gym. Sounds too good to be true... what is your take on this? Kind regards
Hello! I have come across some individuals that use the breast cancer medication (arimidex) for weight loss along with diet and exercise. The dose is 1/4-1/8 of the 1mg tablet. Have you come across any data for its use, what are some pros and cons to use in a temporary fashion (ie 6 months)? Thank you!
