Using plaque type as a decision variable for taking a statin

Hello, I'm a 47-year-old male. I have eaten a high protein plant-based diet for nearly a decade. I exercise often and for years exercised very hard as a team strength coach. I had a high LDL small particle count and received a 44 calcium score at age 45. I've been on 10 mg of atorvastatin ever since, which sufficiently controls what would be higher than average LDL. Question: If it were possible to know if my plaque were soft or hard, would that have an effect on my reasoning to remain on a statin? If so, please explain. Thank you so much

Zone 2: Which variable is most predictive - Nasal Breathing or Heart Rate?

Thanks for being a primary resource for my health and intellectual stimulation! I'm a 47-year-old male, in pretty good shape, learning and practicing Zone 2 on my wife's Peleton :/. I can easily maintain nasal breathing up to 85% of my max heart rate (220 - age) and sometimes beyond. I don't have the means to measure lactate. I don't feel exhausted after an hour on the bike. (Butt does hurt). Am I in Zone 2 with a high heart rate like that? Which variable is a stronger predictor for Zone 2; ability to nasal breath or heart rate 70 to 80%? Thank you!

Investigating idiopathic extreme elevation in oxLDL.

I'm trying to investigate an extreme oxLDL elevation (>2500) in the presence of extremely well-controlled lipids, trig, ApoB, etc. using a statin. I got labs done and atherosclerosis-related numbers looked high, although not as extreme as oxLDL. Taking rosuvastatin 20mg dramatically improved all numbers well into the ideal range, except for oxLDL which showed no change at all. I'm trying to understand how best to investigate the etiology of this aberration and I'm not finding much info online. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Recommended tests for understanding individual/specific macro nutrient digestion and utilization?

Hi Peter, apologies if this was mentioned previously, do you recommend a specific test (readily available or by lab referral) for understanding an individual's metabolism? Sort of like a nutrition version of our CYP enzyme analysis for poor, rapid and ultrarapid metabolizers. Would knowing if someone readily metabolizes carbohydrates better than mean change your dietary recommendations? The same could be asked regarding fats or proteins when trying to "dial-in" someone's optimum nutrition and maximizing there ability to gain lean body mass. Thank you!
