Peter, I've enjoyed your podcast intermittently for some time and have now signed up as a member. One topic that I've hoped you would address is that of bicuspid valves. I have a bicuspid valve with moderate-severe aortic insufficiency and a dilating aortic root. Statistically so do 1-2% of your other listeners. Unfortunately the very things I love doing-- resistance exercise and CrossFit are the things that cause aortic root dilation. Thus, my general question is: How do you counsel people who like to do things that we generally consider to be healthful, but because of their specific circumstances might in fact be harmful. Is there sufficient evidence to take general medical advice at face value, or do we need to consider ourselves in more of an n=1 scenario. I'm not asking for medical advice, in fact I'm a physician as well, and I have to laugh when patients gripe about giving up cigarettes when the only thing I am not willing to give up is exercise. Thanks for considering this topic, and keep the great topics coming.
