As a starting point and with a view on entering the centenarian olympics I am interested in understanding what Biomarkers Peter thinks are important to track. What does he track and why? What results would we want to see based on our ages. Can we please have a clear and succinct list to ask our doctor that would then guide our curiosity further through this wealth of information.
Dr. Attia, What is your opinion and/or experience regarding the side effects of an mRNA or adenovirus vector vaccine when it comes to myocarditis and other serious conditions? Have you seen anything that would increase your chances of an adverse side effect if you have already been infected with, and recovered from covid, but now need to get the vaccine? Thank you for your consideration.
There is an intriguing looking paper in Science Immunology: https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciimmunol.abf2489 I have a subscription to Science, but not Science Immunology. If you have access to the journal, it would be interesting to get your take on it as it might influence atherosclerosis understanding. The thing that sent me to the paper was https://medicalxpress.com/news/2022-03-atherosclerosis.html
I am confused by conflicting data about sun exposure. The standard recommendations are to use sunscreen but there's also evidence that UV exposure is good for mood, vitamin D levels, even possibly blood pressure due to effects on nitric oxide. And while sun exposure can cause non-melanoma skin cancer, sun exposure as an adult is not linked to melanoma, right? And non-melanoma skin cancer is not much more than a nuisance, right? I exercise a lot outdoors in northern latitudes and don't usually use sunscreen because I think the good outweighs the bad. Am I making a mistake?
