Protein Powders

The use of protein powders is usually with men in their late teens to mid-30s. For older folks like myself, who would like to not only minimize muscle loss but even gain muscle, do protein powders make sense? Are the effects of protein powders on women the same? Should people with prediabetes, or who are already diabetic, be using protein powders? While many brands indicate no sugar added, they usually are using some sugar substitute. I think these questions are germane to your discussions of healthspan and your recent roundup on muscle mass. Thank you.

Red Meat/Saturated fat

Is there really any risk to Red Meat/saturated fat? Red meat/saturated fat and cancer? Red meat/saturated fat and atherosclerosis? And why does saturated fat seem to increase ApoB bearing particles in certain individuals? What is the speculated mechanism or reason?

Circulating antibodies COVID-19 vs Measles and other childhood diseases

The guests of your two podcasts on the Covid-19 vaccine subject have explained how it’s normal that circulating antibodies decline with time while we maintain cellular immunity. I think they also mentioned that cellular immunity is not easy to test for outside of a research lab. When I applied for green card to the USA I’ve been asked to produce proof of vaccination for a bunch of diseases (measles rubella chicken pox etc). People my age in my country were only vaxxed as babies for tetanus, diphtheria and hepatitis so I’ve never received a vaccine for what we call “children diseases” but I’ve had them all as a kid so my doctor wrote me antibodies test for all of those that I was not vaxxed against and I tested positive to all and I that was accepted (meaning they did not ask me to be vaxxed as an adult). Why the difference? (Not in the policies, which is a good question but the answer is political, I’m asking rather about the immunology). Are these antibodies tests (MMR, chickenpox, etc) different than the Covid ones? Do they measure cellular immunity rather than circulating antibodies? Or do we have circulating antibodies for measles and co 30 years after getting infected while Covid (vax induced) antibodies only circulate for a handful of weeks/months?

Gallstones and fasting

Please can you clarify the risk of gallstones when fasting over 14 hours daily for women?

Can any diet reverse cardiovascular disease?

Is there any scientific evidence that any type of diet can actually reverse (vs just manage) cardiovascular disease (e.g. Dean Ornish vegan diet, etc.)?
