Benefits of Increased Salt Intake

Hi Peter and Team, It seems I’ve been seeing more and more advice on increasing salt intake for a healthy person and the benefits this has on pretty much all bodily functions and exercise performance. James DiNicolantonio preaches a lot on this via social media. I haven’t delved into this too much but it appears the advice is only for a metabolically healthy person who doesn’t suffer of course from issues associated with metabolic dysfunction and hyperinsulinemia/insulin resistance such as salt retention, increased blood pressure, etc. What is your take on this and is there good evidence behind the benefits of increased salt intake for a healthy person? LMNT and Re-Lyte are 2 sugar free electrolyte supplements I see advertised fairly frequently touting the benefits of increased salt. LMNT especially. Any insights into the data surrounding this would be great. Thanks!

Endothelial Glycocalyx ( EGX)

What are your thoughts on the EGX and the importance of it with cardiovascular health and disease?

Muscle Power for Longevity&Healthspan

Peter, you have discussed your framework for exercise as it relates to healthspan and longevity, but the literature is filled with papers discussing muscle power as an important metric for those over 50. Have you come to any conclusions on reasonable field metrics for power in those interested in longevity/healthspan?

NIRS instead of Lactate for Zone 2 Prescriptions?

Have you considered using NIRS (near-infrared spectroscopy) in lieu of lactate testing as a proxy for lactate and zone 2 prescriptions? Portable monitors like MOXY monitors can gather real-time streaming data as opposed to specific time-points and can correlate fairly well with lactate (and you don't have to prick fingers or ears).

Teenagers' breakfast: None vs cereals

1. Would a teenager better off skipping breakfast vs eating cereals every day? 2. My son (12) is not hungry and does not want to eat breakfast during weekdays before school and also sometimes in weekends. Should I be forcing him to eat something? Thanks
