Measuring watts while swimming

Hi Peter--I have found my way to, I believe, an excellent level 2 routine in the pool in hour long sessions. I have a lactate meter to make sure I don't go above 2.0 mmol, but I don't know how to calculate watts/kg of force in a pool. I'm assuming it is harder or I would have easily found a way. Can you recommend a formula to calculate it? It is ok if it is not perfect. I'm just looking for a way to track progress and improvement.

Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency

This may qualify for a super-duper nerd safari, but during a recent workup I was found to be a Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency carrier. Unlike many carrier-statuses, this one packs a punch but not as much as the full on version. The good news is that for the last three-plus years I have had the support of a great local physician and we have been employing quite the arsenal of Attia-and-others-inspired interventions (I am 60). Net-net I have lost over 21% of my body weight and all my markers and a variety of other indicators are "in the green" for the first time in decades. I feel better and dare I say it younger than I have felt in decades. Anyway, I am wondering if there are any accommodations/interventions I should be considering in light of being an Alpha-1 carrier?

Vitamin C effect on Continuous Glucose Monitor & KETO diet

Greetings. I take 7 grams per day of Vitamin C, and have for many years. Does this use of Vitamin C alter the levels of glucose detected by the Continuous Glucose Monitor. Also does it alter ketone levels detected by devices such as Keto-mojo.

APOE2/4 risks

Hi Peter, I'm wondering if you could tell me more about what is known of the metabolic risks of the APOE2/4 genotype. APOE2 is known to be protective in many ways while APOE4 is known to impair glucose metabolism and increase risk for Alzheimer's, so what about those of us with 2/4? I've even noticed that some studies omit this genotype, perhaps because they complicate results in some way. Thanks!

Alzheimer's

Greetings Dr Attia You have had several podcasts on Alzheimer's. I do not see anything here regarding the work of Dr Dale Benedsen. Perhaps 4 years ago he published "The End of Alzheimer's" followed by "the Alzheimer''s Protocol" and more recently by "The First Survivors of Alzheimer's". He takes the view that there are many possible causes of Alzheimer's, all or any of which can contribute to the development of Alzheimer's. He feels Amyloid can be a protective response against these causes and provides a cellular metabolic rational for this. An example is that substances like excess insulin as present in diabetes can alter the cleavage of amyloid precursor protein which causes the response of increased amyloid buildup in nerve tissue. Perhaps I have oversimplified, but I would recommend you investigate his books and views which I think would make an excellent topic for a future podcast
