Is it correct to say that a TAG excess in liver increases VLDL-P, VLDL-C, LDL-P and LDL-C? If so, why is there an increase in cholesterol levels? In a first glance, one would guess that the amount of cholesterol required to make membranes and hormones shouldn’t be related to TAG needs. Is it because more cholesterol must be produced to maintain the TAG/cholesterol proportion inside the lipoproteins?
Given that statins reduce the amount of LDL vehicles by reducing the production of one of its passengers (cholesterol), what happens to the other passengers that would need to use that same vehicle? I'm talking about TAGs and phospholipids. Their amount didn't change, so they still need as much vehicles as they needed before. As they won’t have it, where does the excess of TAGs and phospholipids go?
