Podcast Request: Alessio Fasano

I enjoyed his recent book Gut Feelings: The Microbiome and Our Health More on Alessio here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alessio_Fasano There are still *so* many unanswered questions on the microbiome.

Book Update?

I believe Peter has said "early 2022" in the past -- is this still an accurate timeline? Do subscribers get any early access readings? Thanks!!

Using Strength Training for Zone 2

You mention using Cycling, Stairmaster, Rowing, Treadmill as possible exercise types for Zoe 2 training. What about tradition Strength training or weight lifting? When I strength train, often my heart rate is in Zone 2 range for most of the workout, especially if I lower the time between sets to around 30-60 secs. If I were to measure my lactate levels while strength training and showed that I was keeping it below 2mmol, would that time strength training count toward Zone 2 exercise?

At home Measurement devices to determine the optimal amount of protein

I believe studies have shown, that too much protein can actually lower lifespan. The amount of recommended protein intake varies widely depending on who you ask. Anywhere from 0.5 g per kg of body weight to 2 or 3 g per kg of BW. You have said your protein has varied from 1.5 to 3 g per KG of BW over various times in your life. is there an at home test or monitoring device that provides a more scientific and customized way to ideal protein intake based on your bodies needs, exercise regimen, genetics, etc, similar to how a CGM can help you dial in proper carb intake or lactate meters can help you determine the right level exertion to stay in Zone 2?

Acne and Insulin?

Is there research showing a link between acne and insulin (or any other mechanisms related to a high carb diet)? I started a low carbohydrate diet five years ago to lose weight. I lost the weight but was surprised when the cystic acne on my back and scalp cleared. Carbohydrate intake with no exercise tends to cause an outbreak. Exercise and/or a 18-24 hour fast prior to a moderate-high carbohydrate meal will usually prevent an outbreak.
