Dexcom G6 20% variability

Hello! So after several months of committing to CGM with the Dexcom G6 and believing I was pre-diabetic from the data I discovered , I started to try finger sticks to check the dexcom numbers. I’ve learned a lot about my triggers for spikes but have come to believe that CGM is not all that useful for non diabetics. I’ve had my fasting glucose and my HbA1C checked with my Dr and my fasting was 4.4mmol/L with my HbA1C 5.1.( on the day of that test Dexcom said fasting was 5.4 and estimated my HbA1C to be 5.8. On any given comparison with dexcom and a finger stick it could differ 11% or more. Today I called dexcom to report the differences I’m finding and they said under 20% is acceptable and in range. Today Dexcom said my fasting was 6 mmol/L upon waking and fingerstick was 5.4. That’s the difference between a well person and a diabetic but I’m told that’s acceptable variance and not to calibrate. Trying to eat to keep blood glucose below 7.8 and dexcom giving me readings of 9.0 when I can’t find that with a finger stick. While eating to see fewer glucose spikes is uncontroversially good. My foray into CGM lead me to believe I was unhealthier than I am. Glad to find out otherwise but it was a costly journey. Cancelled my Dexcom subscription. I sincerely love and appreciate all you do Peter and Bob. Just want to share a cautionary tale.

Resistance training

Peter, you discuss how important resistance training is for both yourself and your patients. Yet, in reviewing all of your podcasts, you have very few guests that discuss the importance of resistance training with you (Layne Norton and Mark and Chris Bell?), but even those have very little pathophysiology of why resistance training is important (ie does it increase your mitochondria, does it increase your insulin sensitivity, is that unique when compared to Zone 2 training?). Please consider having more podcasts on this issues to complete the information you have provided on the importance of Zone 2 training at a cellular level. Thank you and really appreciate all of the work that you do on your podcast!

Water

There are tons of water options and misinformation is very confusing. Can Dr. Attia please disect the water options. i.e. alkaline, reverse osmosis, distilled, spring, PH water, smart water etc... Trying to be a KickAss100YrOld will be simpler if this is an area I can lay to rest.

Dr. Ben Lynch

Can you have Dr. Ben Lynch on as a guest? I have taken your advice on my way to be a KickAss100YrOld and you have inspired me to get a Ion Panel because my PCP is unable to breakdown my micronutrients, which was very helpul, I went to Duke and did a Lactate Test from their cycling teams physicians to uncover my 1.8-2.0 Lactate HR. This has led me down the road to genetic profiling attempting to optimize my genes. Dr. Lynch would be very interesting and I would love to hear your interactions. Thank you!
