Psck9 vs statin +\- zetia

I am a 46 yo recently started on crestor. After listening to your discussion with James O’Keefe, i am more interested in pcsk9 than statin. However, will we ever have data on that alone? I believe to study the pcsk9 one would have to offer standard of care in that study which would presumably be a statin. How will data be accrued if this is only studied as a doublet therapy. And can we speak to using just pcsk9 and zetia instead of statin and zetia anytime in the near future? Thanks. Love the show

rapamycin

Why do you take rapamycin personally but not prescribe it to your patients? Regarding the most recent AMA episode of the drive about muscle strength and mass what is effect of rapamycin on muscle. In some of the studies I have read rapamycin seems to protect against sarcopenia. However does activating Mtor create a growth signal to muscle? How does mtor blockage prevent sarcopenia. Finally, if a physician were interested in starting rapamycin as self experimentation at what age would you start? In their 40s, 50s or 60s?

TRT Forms: Creams vs Injections

Hi Peter - I am an avid fan of your show. I have gone off and on TRT for the last five years and am curious as to what you recommend as the preferred form of TRT replacement. Are injections or topical compounded cream your preferred choice? There is sooo much conflicting data and suggestions on Dr. Google.

Does better cardiorespiratory fitness lead to less mortality and does lower cardiorespiratory fitness lead to higher mortality? Or is it at least associated?

Can you talk about muscle mass: function, loss with aging, how it’s defined, measured, and the cutoff points for sarcopenia?
