Hello Peter and team - I've enjoyed all of your content on CGMs and blood glucose management. One question I don't think has been addressed: - Can you please discuss how to use a CGM effectively when taking metformin? I found on a 3-month use that blood glucose levels were "blunted" by metformin - didn't spike too high but also didn't drop much How does metformin impact real-time CGM (Dexcom) use and data? Thanks!
What's your feeling on "thin on the inside"? I always thought it was dissembling, but here I am at 55 (F), still 30-40lbs overweight but down 70+ pounds from 15 years ago, I find that I have a CAC score of zero, CGM glucose levels that hardly move if I eat lowish carb, normalized cholesterol levels (finally), BP of 118/74 on just a diuretic, and an Oura resting heart rate of 53-57 despite little exercise beyond walking 150 minutes or a bit more a week. I look in the mirror and I see my fat exercise-hating self, so all these numbers kind of have me thrown for a loop. Do you have patients like this? How do you approach?
Hello! I'm a female listener, former ultramarathoner, current weightlifter. I've been doing N of 1 experiments with myself for quite a while, drawing on very much the same toolkit discussed here (exercise zones, fasting, different macro approaches, sleep, and more). One thing I wonder about is whether or not there are well known female doctors or scientists who apply the same things and can talk deeply (and obsessively) about their experiences. Relatedly, are there well known differences between how women and men react to fasting? To fasting and diet as it relates to building strength or longevity? I've seen a lot more out there on ingestion and diet than I have on these topics all combined together. Thanks!
