Kidney function and prolonged fasting

Thoughts or lit on the net impact of periodic fasting 72-96/hrs month on GFR/CKD? There seems to be some research on CDK and IF (Ramadan) but not seeing much on extended fasting. Fantastic show guys - thanks for the time spent on putting it together

SIBO / IBS Diet

I suffer from SIBO / IBS. Dr Pimentel at Ceders Cinai in LA has gotten very close to proving that most IBS is an autoimmune condition - an auto immune reaction which damages a protein required for the small intestine’s migrating mobility complex to become compromised resulting in bacteria that normally lives in the large intestine to slowly populate small intestine because small intestine’s ‘cleaning function’ not functioning properly. Pimentels protocol is A) Kill the overgrowth with Rifaxamin, B) prescribe a motility drug (usually Reselor) to help keep small bowel clean. In my case this works fairly well 6/10. Do you have any thoughts or experience on diet to help with SIBO / IBS. Would be very interested to try a Ketogenic diet but a bit overwhelmed where to start

CGM accuracy vs glucometer

Why does CGM data continually show higher than via a glucometer for some people? For me, a Libre CGM always reads 1 – 1.5 mmol higher than readings with a glucometer, even when accounting for time delay discrepancy between blood and interstitial fluid. CGM data becomes much less relevant than if the data sources were more correlated with each other. Sadly, the only useable information is in watching for spikes/glucose variability patterns. Thanks!

Type 2 and using a Glucose Monitor

Thank you Peter for what you do! I have purchased a CGM for my Type 2 Diabetes. I know you usually talk about non diabetic numbers. I was born with the wrong Ginetics. I am asking what numbers should I be looking for. I am sure others may be thinking the same thing Thanks Jeff from Ontario Canada

REM Sleep of 10%

Having bought an Oura ring, I have noticed that I have averaged at around 10% REM for the last 8-10 months. Besides achieving thermoneutrality as discussed in podcast #127, are there any other strategies I could implement to increase my REM? I looked into the use of Huperzine - A which is an acetylcholine inhibitor but am not sure of the side effects. Thank you
