I recently began reading Michael Pollan's "How to Change Your Mind" where he mentions early on in the book that people with a family history/pre-disposition to mental illness should not try psychedelics. This confused me as I was under the impression that at least someone of the push for the medicinal use of psychedelics is to treat people with mental illnesses like depression, substance abuse. Additionally, if something like MDMA is being used to treat trauma, people with PTSD often have co-occurring disorders like depression and substance abuse. Can you help calify how people with depression, substance use disorder, or even bipolar disorder factor into the use of psychedelics in therapy? Thank you.
In the search for an optimal olive oil, are high total polyphenols the goal or does the consistency of those polyphenols matter? I.e. my local olive oil store says their oil has a polyphenol count of 400 mg/kg, does that sound ideal (assuming single sourced, EVOO, etc.) without knowing the actual makeup of those polyphenols?
