Dr. Attia, following your detailed exploration in AMA #64 on the broad applications of GLP-1 agonists, I’m curious to hear your thoughts on micro-dosing these medications. How do you view the potential benefits and risks associated with micro-dosing GLP-1s for weight management or metabolic health? Additionally, what are your perspectives on the use of compounding pharmacies for these drugs, particularly regarding their off-label applications? How should patients and practitioners navigate the safety, efficacy, and ethical considerations of such practices?
I’m currently on SGLT-2 inhibitors, and am wondering if certain dietary and exercise behaviors could possibly accentuate the effect of glucose loss to excretion. For example, since exercise temporarily raises glucose levels, would working out during the Cmax window be optimal for shunting the highest amount of glucose? Or perhaps utilizing intermittent fasting such that most of your calories are consumed during the Cmax window
As a 40 year old male, my IGF-1 routinely results high end of normal or 50-150 ng/ml higher than reference range. I feel good and seem to be able to train harder than most men my age. Should I be concerned and take measures to attempt to lower this or continue to enjoy the benefits?
I understand I need to do zone 2 work for 75 minutes at a time; May I run for 45 minutes and then switch to cycling for remaining 30? I have orthopedic issues that make running for full 75 minutes risky. Am guessing the switch to different muscle fibers would result in insufficient work for mitochondria?
