There has been rumor that Jeanne Calmet did not live to 122, but it was her daughter who defrauded the French retirement system. Is the same true of Blue Zones? Thank you. https://theconversation.com/people-in-the-worlds-blue-zones-live-longer-their-diet-could-hold-the-key-to-why-221463
5’2” 110 pound 66 yo female with osteoporosis and L45 Spondylolisthesis. Injury probably occurred as a teen. Currently asymptomatic, have had consultations that have recommended A.P. Fusion, so wish to avoid at all costs. Very active aerobically with cross country skiing, biking. Have recently been going to Gym with a trainer and have started doing lifting with free weights. Can not find information on whether a different technique should be used with a spondylolisthesis for doing squats and dead lifts. Can you recommend a source on this? Would you recommend contacting the Bone Clinic? How would you suggest proceeding given the wish to avoid the consequences of osteoporosis.
I frequently go out for runs on the weekends and can keep it within what I think is the zone 2 range (135-155 as a 20yo). Sometimes later into the run (50+ mins), I will feel my legs start to really tighten up and I take a break for a few minutes to stretch and relax the muscles before starting again. How do you think this is impacting the benefits I'm looking for in these exercise sessions? Is it reasonable to take breaks for the sake of increasing the amount of total time in the session, or is it more of a sign that the exercise is "too hard"?
