You and Gerald Shulman have made clear the relationship between intracellular lipids and insulin resistance. ("Gerald says insulin resistance is most commonly 'lipid-induced insulin resistance.'") You both talk about exercise as a treatment but my question is whether dietary fat consumption (especially saturated fat?) also contributes to lipid-induced insulin resistance?
In episode 265, Peter is pondering the need/benefit of purpose. I think an interesting point would be an interview between him and Steven Kotler (the rise of Superman). I believe that Stephen would say that the point of purpose is to get you into flow. While he uses it to increase productivity, his zero to dangerous program, I think that this is the benefit of shared time in flow between people who care about each other.
Andy Galpin gave an overview of heart muscle functioning. He explained that resting heart rate actually requires the presence of acetyl choline to slow the contractions of the heart. That in the absence of acetyl choline, the heart would pump faster. Is zone 2 training operating the heart without the supression of acetyl choline?
