Pentadecanoic Acid (C15:0)

What's your take on this fatty acid that is being hyped so much? Interesting comparisons have been made to rapamycin. Here is a link to a PubMed article that may be relevant: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10649853/

S-Adenosylmethionine (sam-e) Safe and effective?

SAMe ( 400 mg, Enteric Coated, Lake Avenue Nutrition, daily to be specific) makes me a happier person and maybe is supposed to help with homocysteine levels. Studies say it can work as well an anti-depressants but a study out of Japan said it is damaging to the kidneys. Should I be concerned about taking it.

Elevated calcium scores in endurance athletes

I was curious about Peter's perspective and sentiments regarding various articles addressing a cohort of endurance athletes exhibiting elevated calcium scores, sometimes referred to as "Hearts of Stone." Several of these athletes lack typical risk factors associated with increased calcium scores and show no symptoms related to heart disease. Below is a list of several of these articles. Baggish et al. Coronary Artery Calcification Among Endurance Athletes
“Hearts of Stone” Tonnet et al. Coronary Plaque in Athletes Bosscher et al. Lifelong endurance exercise and its relation with coronary atherosclerosis Merghani et al. Prevalence of Subclinical Coronary Artery Disease in Masters Endurance Athletes With a Low Atherosclerotic Risk Profile Lechner et al. Your athlete-patient has a high coronary artery calcification score— ‘Heart of Stone’. What should you advise? Is exercise safe? Jafar et al. Assessment of Coronary Atherosclerosis Using Calcium Scores in Short- and Long-Distance Runners Thanks

david sinclair

David Sinclair and academic fraud..... is that too controversial? This supposedly eminent scientist is increasingly being cast as a scheister....Recent Matt Kaberlain podcasts and statements are worth a listen (I am sure you are aware of these)...... The book. The podcast. He seemed to capture the public's imagination but now seems to be more self promoting and interested in selling the gullible public his branded supplements.. Is he just a really well qualified snake oil salesman or is there more? What about reviewing some of his work as a journal club? This might be the least controversial approach.....
