Strategies for Longevity Training (Vo2-max and zone2) - Post-Pericarditis

Dear Dr. Attia, I hope this message finds you well. As a 42-year-old with a background in the top 5% of my age group in competitive cross-country skiing, I am now focusing on longevity and maintaining cardiovascular health through VO2 max and Zone 2 training. Following my recovery from pericarditis in September 2022, and cessation of prednisolone in July 2023, I've observed not only an increase in my resting heart rate (RHR) from 45 bpm to 55-60 bpm and a decrease in my heart rate variability (HRV) from an average of 50+ to around 30, but also an increased volatility of these metrics in response to stress or excersize, which was not a concern prior to my illness. This heightened sensitivity has prompted me to seek your expertise on adapting my exercise routine to support my goals of longevity and cardiovascular health, with a keen interest in how VO2 max and Zone 2 training can be tailored to my current situation. I would appreciate your guidance on the following points: 1. Considering the increased volatility of my RHR and HRV to stress, how should I adjust my VO2 max and Zone 2 training practices to support cardiovascular health and longevity effectively? 2. Are there specific adaptations or considerations I should apply to these training methods to mitigate the impact of stress on my cardiovascular metrics? 3. How can I optimize my training regimen to monitor and manage the heightened sensitivity of my cardiovascular system, ensuring that my approach to longevity training is both safe and effective? Your insights into adapting training strategies post-pericarditis, taking into account the specific changes and challenges I've faced, would be incredibly valuable. While I will continue to follow the guidance of my healthcare provider, your expertise in longevity and performance training offers a unique perspective that I am eager to incorporate. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your advice on navigating these adjustments for my long-term health and fitness goals.

Will this change by 4x liquid biopsy cancer detection rates for stage 1 and 2?

Using nanoparticles, MIT researchers slowed the macrophage destruction of DNA fragments in the blood so that the sensitivity of liquid biopsies skyrocketed, with an increase in cell-free DNA by 60x. How long will this take to be standard practise? https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36711603/

Minimizing muscle loss when injured

I’m 66 years old. Have been lifting 3 days a week and cardio twice weekly. Recently did something to my thumb that makes gripping dumbbells or barbells just this side of impossible. Three days in and recovery seems to be progressing slowly. What, if anything can I do/ not do to minimize muscle loss during this down time.

why do you not include medical error including pointing out the errors in the cdc chart on causes of death

the topic of road death increases is well done except for two glaring errors #1 how wrong the cdc data is. This it the agency that told us so many lies ( an over used word but the correct word here) yes lies about covid and they way they counted covid deaths ( gun shot to the chest with + covid test but no symptoms is a covid death) Many other errors in the grid you presented. # 2 problem is the continued ignoring of the #1 or #2 cause of death ( I believe it is #1 by far but we do not measure it and therefore can’t really know the massive extend of medical errors by doctors and hospitals = misdiagnosis, wrong treatment and correct treatment done incorrectly. I am surprised you do not address this issue. There are many way to address it and reduce your chances of being impacted by this issue. The trend is getting worse as opposed to the other medical diseases. Certainly you are aware of it. What is you misdiagnosis rate? It will never be addressed util the public forces the medical community to address through state laws and payment mechanisms. Why is this not covered on The Drive? As you suggest with driving there are way to mitigate your chances of death through medical errors. I can list at least 10.
