There is a trend from PT to recommend woman in perimenopause to stop doing cardio. They argue that cardio tend to increase cortisol, therefore further decreasing estrogen and worsening symptoms. I really don't agree, we do know that strength training is vital to keep muscle and improve-maintain bone density, but recommending 0 cardio sounds contra productive. Zone 2 - 3? HITT? what are your thoughts??
In your interview with Rhonda Patrick PhD she mentioned a theory she has about the cause of Alzheimer's. As an APOE 4/4 carrier I have been following research for 15 years and I think she has something in her theory that the breakdown of the blood-brain barrier allowing toxins into the brain and creating a cascading effect that results in Alzheimer's. Can you get another interview with her and elaborate on this theory?
It's been stated that the leucine threshold is about 3 grams (Don Layman, #224). However, as you age, it takes more protein to trigger MPS . I'm 70, what is my leucine threshold? And how do I make sure i reach it if various proteins have different absorption rates? And what does my anabolic window look like at my age? Thank you
